Welcome to my Photo Blog. I'll try to mix it up, there are lots of different types of photography. Much of what I photograph is in the landscape category. My passion regarding nature started as a boy. The Cascade mountains of Washington were where my father introduced me to hiking and fishing. Watching a bald eagle use its strong talons to pluck a large trout out of the water was the kind of experience that had to be part of my future. I hope you enjoy my photo-journey.

Red Barn/Race Horse In Retirement
Tucked back in the Auburn hills, this old ranch barn has a country charm. Once mighty race horses ran, now retired race horses enjoy a quieter day.

Who Designed That Creature?
Dragonfly, dragonfly what do you see. What do you think when your blue eyes look out and see me.
You must be wondering, "who would have designed that creature?" . . . . inspired by Ziggy Marley's lyrics.

De-focus On The Fence Post
Life in the Cascade foothills is centered around the ground. Farms, dairy cows, horses and crops. It is so peaceful. I placed my focus on the foreground fense post. Wanting to create a tranquil mood. Maybe use the image in meditation, just relax for a while.

Documentary "The Flood"
The scene opens, we are living on Cal State Channel Islands campus. The University is located in the mountains, just west of Camarillo, California. It starts to rain, and rain as if the sky was falling. We were trapped on the mountain side of this, normally gentle stream. Since I couldn't go to work that week, guess what? Camera time. The year was 2004.

The Last Encore
For my wife's birthday, one year, I took her to Laughlin Nevada to hear Wynonna Judd perform. We are both big fans of Wynonna and we got great seats for the show. This year is special because Wynonna and her mom, Naomi will be touring as the Judds. This is to be their last encore on stage.

Our Forefather's Wisdom
While I was viewing this majestic scene, my thoughts went straight to thankfulness. I was thankful for the wisdom of our forefathers to set aside land for future generations to enjoy.

My Kind of Town
There is a little park on Queen Ann Hill. This is probably the smallest park I have ever visited. But, with a big view. There is nothing like seeing Seattle with Mount Rainier in the background. Oh yes, the name of the park is Kerry Park. Visit it someday.

Finding The Sweet Spot In A Scene
Tipso Lake is a favorite destination of mine. It is located off Chinook Pass, in the Cascades. The lake has been photographed by many others. I have yet to find the photographic angle and time of day that brings out the mystery of this lake. I'll keep trying until my vision is realized. Wish me luck.

Rushing Water Is Food For The Soul
This scene is below Narada Falls, in the Cascade Mountains. The rushing water does refresh one's soul.

Sailing, Take Me Away To Where You're Going
It's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility.
Great lyrics by Christopher Cross.

Leaving The Party Early
The Soos Creek Botanical Garden "Grand Opening" was a huge success. Great turnout. The events included a pheasant release. A breeding pair and a collection of young pheasants were released into the wild. Although the release process lasted longer than expected, the pheasants eventually made their way into the gardens.

If You Think The iPad Is Cool . . .
The pond at Soos Creek Botanical Garden is impressive. Not just large, but inviting. The Lilly pads are spotted with iridescent Lillies just waiting for the Grand Opening tomorrow.

It's A New Day For Tranquility
Today I had the most wonderful adventure. I was allowed to photograph, the soon to be opened, Soos Creek Botanical Garden. This property has been in the same family for four generations, and they have recently bestowed the property. I said wonderful, I should have said magical. Tranquility has a new name.

The Ugly Duck
In the story, "The Ugly Duckling", the little duck grows up to be a beautiful Swan. This story doesn't quite work out that way. I did what I could.

Timber Line
Mount Rainier sits upon a very distinct timber line. This photo location near Paradise is a place of quiet. There usually are many people, all standing silently and looking at The Mountain. Majestic is Mt. Rainier. When my nephew wants to find a new location for viewing Mount Rainier, he will say, "uncle, let's go mountain hunting". I love that phrase.

A Fall With No Name
Climbing down along the side of Narada Falls was a very wet experience. The mist was impossible to get away from. Once I was below the Falls, I travelled about a quarter of a mile and was treated to this splendid view. I will let you know if I ever discover the name of this cascading falls.

Butterfly Mayhem
These two butterflies came into my backyard. They twirled, twisted and tumbled. I must have looked very funny, running around, trying to catch up to them. I took more than this one image, believe me.

Wildflowers In Miniature
This wildflower and sister buds were extremely small. I first noticed the fuschia colored flower, but it was the buds that intrigued me. I almost wanted to include a coin so you could appreciate how in miniature this scene really was.

Captured by a Leaf
I went for a walk in the woods and what did I see? A delicate red leaf, looking back at me . . . I was captured, I couldn't get away. The little leaf had to come home with me to stay, (photographically speaking, of coarse).
Could It Be . . . " The Thinker" ?
Have you seen the famous sculpture of a primate posed as in deep thought? That was the visualization that I experienced when I saw this young primate.

Did You Know . . . ?
That this bird is a member of the Black Bird family. This is a tropical Oriole. I didn't know Oriole's were part of the Black Bird family.

Some Kids Don't Outgrow Their Blanky
What a character. He gets up close so the people coming to the zoo can see him. Covers his head with his favorite "blanky" and just watches.

Can You Read His Mind?
The Golden Lion Tamarin is one of my favorite primates. I was trying to decide what he was thinking. Do you have any ideas?

Almost a Missed Opportunity
Last Sunday, I was on a trail in the woods near Shelton, Washington. I came upon this small wildflower. As I was setting up my tripod and getting ready to capture a digital image of this flower, a mountain biker came around the corner. Seeing me in the middle of the trail, he tried to stop. I was sure he would crash into the flower but he regained his balance and my photo shoot was spared.

Watching Her Grow - Sharing Her Life
I was out shooting images of our youngest child. We stopped for a bit and Mom caught up with us and said, "give me your camera". Precious Memories captured in an instant.

Miniature Lanterns in the Woods
These tiny wildflowers look like miniature lanterns on a cable. I've seen this variety in many places around western Washington, from Lake Washington to the Cascade Foothills.
